5. Answering Common Inquiries

Administration is more straightforward if you set up folders for Insulin-Pumper e-mail and the common responses. Suggested folders would be IP-pending for subscription request processing and IP-answers for common responses.

In this section, we will cover Answers to Common Question later on we'll cover subscription requests and new member profiles.

5.1 How to Subscribe and Skimpy Profiles

Create a message as described below from the info file to specifically answer the "howto subscribe" question. This message is also the one to send back to a prospective new member that has provided a skimpy profile. Add a comment like:

        Your profile needs a little more information,
        please read the "sample profile" below and 
        re-submit your subscription request. Thanks

        end

Copy the text returned to you by majordomo and paste it into a mail message to yourself. Make the first line of the message:

        HOWTO SUBSCRIBE to the Insulin-Pumpers mail lists

5.2 How to Unsubscribe Insulin-Pumpers

The most common cause of unsubscribe requests is mail volume overload. Most members do not know about, or have not tried the digest version of the list or the browser interface. DO NOT unsubscribe any members unless they repeatedly have trouble unsubscribing, e-mail them the instructions and let them do it themselves. After reading the instructions, most members choose one of the alternative memberships.

Copy the text below and paste it into a mail message to yourself. Move the mail message to your IP-answers folder for future use. Update or modify this message as needed.

Instructions to unsubscribe Insulin Pumpers

To avoid the mail volume you may wish to subscribe to the browser 
only version of the list or the  digest version of the list.  With 
the browser only membership, you receive no mail from the list.  
You may access the mail through a 'news' like interface in the 
'members only' area of our website at:

www.insulin-pumpers.org

The digest version publishes one large message containing the 
previous messages since the last digest. It is e-mailed to you daily.

Mail for the list from all memberships is sent to:

Insulin-Pumpers@insulin-pumpers.org

To unsubscribe from insulin-pumpers and join one of the other 
lists, send a message to:

5.3 What's my PASSWORD?

Oh gee!! another person who did not read the intro file. This request usually comes from brand new members on the same day they join or from old members who are finally looking at the browser interface or profiles of other members.
