Hi Caroline, I think you have just been victim of unlucky coincedence. As with all things, it's possible, but unlikely that the infusion sites are causing problems. Anything which breaks the bodies first line defence ie skin weakens it and gives a chance for nasties to get in

Dear All Since getting my pump in November and having an amazing "honeymoon" period, I have had a series of nasty viruses which have lead to secondary infections. I have had four courses of antibiotics since late December

When you remove the cannula some of the insulin from the cannula will probably be left behind as you withdrawn the cannula and a slight vacuum is created sucking back some of the insulin

Hi Rosie, When you remove the canula, just the force of removing it will create bubbles. Think of when you drink through a straw, if you take the straw out of the liquid, bubbles will appear in the straw

Just rung the doctors for results of my swabs and he said I had a bacterial infection so don't exactly know what kind or is it just called a bacterial infection

Rosie: Are you sure that you are seeing air-bubbles? Marks that look a bit like air bubbles will often appear on the tubing walls. One way to tell if what you are seeing are air bubbles is to take a magic marker and mark the positions of the "bubbles". Wait 30 mins or so and if they have moved they are air bubbles

Hi di the pump is fine the battery died and when I had a hypo in the night I was too out of it and did not check the pump like I usually do this meant I was a long time without insulin anyway it takes a good day for bgs to come back to normal thanks for your reply angel

Hi Dave, I'm not a doctor, but I have done lots of research concerning my diabetes. I have also been on the receiving end of unsuitable drugs due to prescription oversight. I understand the major strain the NHS is under and stressed staff can sometimes give you something just to 'get you out the door'

Glad you're feeling better, it can be quite scary. One tip: be aware that when you take large amounts of insulin to bring down your BG, it may take a while for it to come down completely, so be careful that some hours after you took the insulin, your BG does not crash

I'd strongly advise NOT going to A&E unless you can't get your BG down or unless you really get worse. They won't do anything different to what you're doing and as long as you take on insulin ans fluids you'll be absolutely fine in a fewhours

Hi Go to a and e Get someone to ring your pump provider Take insulin by injection to cover deficit every two hours- if bs high _take at least 30 percent more Have you a long acting insulin to take to replace basals

Hi judith thanks my bg is now 29 and coming down my ketones are coming down I must have been very high as I have given large bolus and using counter on pump giving such a lot insulin always is a bit scary waiting for the usual sudden dramatic bg that always happens after an incident

hope you are feeling better. Use your ordinary pen insulin and give a large dose of quick acting ? 10 units. Danger level is over 3, but having had a similar incident myself the other day, I got to 2.6 and didn't feel too hot either

Hi my pump died in the night battery went I also had a hypo early am was rushing around feeling rotton I have bg over 33 and just did ketone test its 1
