[IPk] lack of pump knowledge

Just been to a conference for GPs. We had a morning devoted to diabetes, but
as usual it was mostly type 2. Regarding type 1: glargine was mentioned, but
not a word about pumps ( a Dr Macleod from ? was it Shrewsbury or Hereford)
Actually, I lie. There was a graph demonstrating nocturnal insulin levels with
NPH/ glargine and CSII. The glargine appeared to be acheiving exactly the same
thing as NPH but he did not go into individual insulin requirements and fixed
vs variable basals etc. I think glargine sounds a wonderful development and I
would use it if I had a flat basal profile ( or if for some reason I couldn't
afford to continue pumping or get funding). But they seem to be missing a
point and I hope pumps don't get put on a back burner due to glargine

I like Pat's comment about the viagra. I thought of this a while ago
