Re: [IPk] minimed 508 problems

Di, my only worry about doing this is that when the pump reverts after
malfunctioning like this, there may not be any basal rates! So do check to
see that everything is still set up OK. In the summer my pump completely
packed in twice, and re-set itself when I removed and replaced the
batteries. I then had to reset basals, insulin type, date, audio bolus
basically everything again from scratch. Always a worry while you are away
from home. By the way I couldn't remember my carefully tailored basal rates,
so I'd advise everyone to write them down!

Anyway I hope it gets sorted out soon. By the way, anyone who has to resort
to returning to injections while waiting for a replacement or repair, why
not ask the clinic to give you Glargine? It is the new smooth basal insulin,
and should be a good alternative to pumping in a fix. In theory, you would
take your normal total basal insulin as the pump can tell you, then bolus
with a pen. After all, it's nice to think you are still moving forwards,
rather than taking a step back when this happens!

Regards,

Tony

alone over the weekend, bolus manually & phone Hannah at Medtronic first
