Re: [IPk] Re: pumps and children

Hi -
my 13 year old daughter has just finished her 4 week pump
trial and is into her sixth week on the pump.
Already her levels are better than on two injections a day
and I am told that this is really early days and not to expect
things to settle for 3-6 months.

Initially her consultant was pretty negative about the pump
but agreed to us trying it out after we went back on subsequent
visits just as determined.

The support given by the diabetic nurse from Minimed was second
to none - really she has been the first, second and third contact for
all our problems - and has been right there with us working to
get it right.

Maybe this is a road your friend could go down -
get permission from the consultant but the support from a team
with a whole lot of experience?

Jennifer
