[IPk] Ray Jordan

Hi Ray
many people would argue that they prefer multiple daily injections due to
flexibility with meal times and more scope to alter their insulin
I think there are many alternatives to simply twice daily mixtard or the pump
and many people can get superb control on multiple ( ie 4 or more daily
injections). Pumps offer most benefit for those with insulin requirements that
can't be matched by any (practical or otherwise) injection regimen or who
suffer frequent or severe hypos
It sounds as if your BGs are a little on the high side but reasonably stable.
Do you have problems with hypos if you try to lower it more? and how many
times per day do you monitor?
Mixtard doesn't offer you much flexibility and it may be that the slight
fiddle of having to do more injections would improve your control and quality
of life
Also the over simplistic dietary advice that many people with diabetes are
given is often not helpful in achieving good control
It seems as if your diabetes clinic haven't explored many alternatives with
you which I personally think is very amiss
I am sure you will find this site very informative and supportive whether you
go for a pump or any other regimen
