Re: [IPk] Continous Monitoring

Hello Kathryn,

We had a talk by Dr Roel Hoogma, the chief investigator of the insulin pump
study, a couple of weeks ago, and he was very sceptical about the validity
of continuous monitoring.

Apparently, nearly everyone shows a lower blood sugar overnight - regardless
of what their sugar levels actually are. This is thought to be because
there is less blood being moved around the layer of tissue that the probe is
in when you are sleeping/less active.

He suggested that it was far more reliable to do more blood tests - could
you not do a test when you get up during the night??
