Hi Brian
What is your control and quality of life like on MDI?
It's not all that common for people to be on MDI within a couple of years of
diagnosis ( far too easy for them to be fobbed off with twice daily mixtard in
my opinion)
Is the weight staying off because your control is not good and you are loosing
calories as glucose in the urine?. Or are you just more conscious of what you
eat since having D?
I know that Llandough have at least one person on a pump as do the Royal Gwent
and the Royal Glamorgan. Singleton may have as well. I am not sure about
I think the issue is here why you want to consider pumping. If you have widely
varying basal insulin requirements which can't be matched with injections, or
you have frequent or severe hypos, pumping may certainly be of benefit. If
your main problem is night time hypos then glargine may help
Good luck!
