Re: [IPk] Oh no! Steroid injections!

Hi Lesley,

By all means have the steriod injections for now, but try to get on the
waiting list for the surgery as soon as possible. Whether carpal tunnel
develops as a neuropathic complication has recently been discussed in some
medical journals (thanks again for the references, Tori!), but what seems to
be generally agreed upon by neurologists and orthopaedists is that carpal
tunnel won't go away on its own if the pt has diabetes. If you get told that
occasional steriod injections will prevent the need for the surgery,
consider whether you're prepared to have the injections on a periodic basis
for the forseeable future. You'll know after this round, I suppose!

Good luck,
