[IPk] Beck Wellburn

I would insist your daughter goes onto multiple daily injections first of all,
and learn carb counting
if this clinic wont support you demand to go elsewhere
many people find mdi revolutionizes their lives( due to increased flexibilty
with meatimes and amounts) and drastically improves their control
If this doesn't enable you to achieve goals ( glycaemic control, relative
freedom from hypos and flexibility with food) despite careful dose adjustment,
monitoring of carb intake and testing, then a pump may be better
It could also be seen as a stepping stone to pumping as you would become more
adept at altering doseage according to BG, food, activity etc, so the
transition would be a little smoother
lastly if pumps do become funded the likely criteria would be that a regimen
of multiple injections has been tried and has not enabled good control without
severe or very frequent hypos
