We've been using one since the end of September for my son Sam (aged 7),
mixed opinions so far.  It's quite bigger and heavier than any of the meters
we'd previously used.  One of the very useful features is that you can
pre-load it with a strip & a lancet (up to 8 hours before you need to
test) -
which helps a lot when he's playing football & you're standing in the mud at
the side of the pitch!

On the downside, we've recently been getting a lot of "not enough blood
errors", which I think is because of his size & the lack of really fleshy
parts to test on.  It seems to work fine on adults.  The vacuum pump is also
quite noisy, which rules out using it in some situations & during the night
(it wakes him up!).

On balance, it's worth having, but to use in conjunction with our other
rather than as a replacement.
