Re: [IPk] bent needles

A further suggestion about avoiding bent needles.

First, forget about muscle as the needle is unlikely to reach through the
layer of fat we all have under the skin.

Second, while the silhouette needle should be aimed at 30 degrees, it might
be better for the thick-skinned to insert the needle vertical to the skin
for the first couple of millimetres, then angle it for the rest of the way
in, through soft tissue which does not interfere with the needle's passage
at all.

You would not believe how tough skin can be, and it is probably a little
thinner away from the midline.

Finally, unlike giving injections, it's better to stretch the skin when
inserting the needle, rather than pinching it up. Thuis when you press the
needle into it, it forms a depression, and then has only one place to go,
that is through the skin!

Finally, do everything slowly and gently, and don't remove the needle until
it is fully inserted.
