RE: [IPk] Set changes and insulin efficiency & travelling on plane
Hi all
I just got back from a weeks hols in cyprus last night and i can also add that
my blood sugars were a bit haywire!!!! I kept my insulin in a frio pouch while
sunbathing but the tubing was still exposed to the heat!! I found if i didn't
eat too much carbs my bg's were fine but then i was getting trace/small
ketones..but then if had carbs i was getiing high blood sugar readings (well i
say high they were about 8-10 most of the time). So in the end i just decided to
eat lots and have higher reading for the week as i decided it wouldn't kill
me!!! now i'm home i woke this morning to a bg of 4.8. I think lying around
sunbathing all day and eating 3 course meals probably were the cause and nothing
to do with insulin or pump problems!!!
I did prefer having the pump on holidays as normally i bruise really badly in
the hot countries when injecting so at least i didn't have that problem.
I also want to add that customs didn't even detect the pump going or returning
(cardiff and paphos airports) so i didn't say anything. I also had an activated
gel frio pack in my hand luggage and nothing was said about this either.
anyway back to my washing and ironing :-((
