[IPk] What is a sensor?

Hi Georgianne

Not sure if anyone's responded yet...

There is a continuous blood glucose monitoring system from Medtronic (CGMS)
which can come as a separate unit and can come built into Medtronic's 522
and 722 pumps. The sensor is the bit of the system which you stick under
the skin, much like a cannula, but separate from and in a different spot
from the cannula. It sends signals to the CGMS providing a reading of the
glucose level in the interstitial fluid (not the blood).

Hope that helps
