Re: [IPk] Steel vs. plastic/teflon

Is it just me, or has the world gone mad? First we hear from a
diabetic, with complications, who has an appointment cancelled and won't
have seen his specialist for 12 months, then from one who is risking
infection by reinsertion of needles (albeit minimising the risk through
a rigorous cleansing routine), and not using the most comfortable sets,
for him, not because he can't afford the extra between NHS and luxury,
but because the NHS doesn't cover the cost of NHS.

I feel guilty for using my grant writing skills to climb to the top of
the heap: what I get for myself, others are not given. My pump nurse is
fretting because after six weeks I have reduced my average bgs from the
mid teens to under ten: just not good enough for my funding authority,
she worries. On no basis whatsoever, that I can see.

Input does a great job of supporting people in getting funding, but if
anyone either doesn't feel able to tackle their health authorities for
themselves, or has given up, I do recommend that people call Social
Services, and ask about their advocacy service.

Has anyone tried using their union's welfare service - either as a
strong arm, or for funding?

Best wishes to all,
