Re: [IPk] Frozen shoulder

HI Sarah,
My frozen shoulders ached a bit all the time, but could often forget
about it for periods during the day, but when moving the arm or
bumping into anything, or often in the middle of the night in bed, it
could be excruciating - definitely bringing tears to my eyes, as you
describe. And ordinary painkillers didn't touch it. I read that frozen
shoulder is a self limiting condition, whatever you may or may not
take to help you cope, and whatever treatment you do or do not have,
they do eventually get better, but it can be many months. In my case
the first time, after many months and when it was already past its
absolute worst but still very painful, I broke my ankle and had to lie
with my foot raised for several weeks, and my cat administered what
turned out to be the best therapy by lying and purring on my shoulder
for hours at a time. The second frozen shoulder I did not have the
luxury of lying around for cat therapy, but that eventually got better
too. I am hoping that now that I over 60, the chances of its recurring
are minimal - in addition to being more common in people with
diabetes, it is more common in women than men, and more common between
ages 40-60.
Having said all this, I do hope your condition is not frozen shoulder
and will get better much faster.
