Re: [IPk] Diet

Hi Sharon,

That is true, but in the main, Type 2 is a self inflicted disease,so my way of
thinking is that most (not all) Type 2's have diabetes because they have eaten
way too much of the wrong things and are grossly overweight - this guy is in
his early 50's, very very overweight and really doesn't respect his diabetes
in anyway.

So, the reason I was cross with him, was because Type 1 is a no fault disease,
just the unlucky get it, whereas in his case, his diabetes is self
inflicted...........
Yes, I would rather have Type 1 as we can eat what we like and most Type 2's
can't, but I like to think that I would never let myself get to the point
where I had Type 2........
Hope that makes sense!
Sarah

I am type 1 but do agree with the gent you spoke to. I do think we are
luckier (although not by choice) than tyep 2 as they have a restrictive
diet but are still subject to the same complications as us - at least we
can enjoy ourselves!

Morning Sandie,
Oh yes - that happens a lot!!
I frequently get asked if I can have a sweet or a biscuit, if a pack
is
being passed around a group of people...
I get asked "should you be eating that" when tucking into an occassional
jam
doughnut or chocolate bar...........
I have a friend who is also Type 1 and she is shocked when I eat a
packet of
sweets or such like!!!
I do find that the worst people to question dietary choices are Type
2's......... They seem to think that we are all the same and that we
should
avoid sweet things at all costs........
I had this discussion with a gentleman who has Type 2, when I told
him
that as long as I know the carb content, I can pretty much eat what I
fancy,
he replied "Type 1's are so lucky that they can do that, beats being
type
2...." !!! I was amazed that someone could think this - after all,
having Type
1 is no fault of my own...........

Morning everyone

I want to ask you if you feel that your dietary choices are scruitinised
by
others and if you feel judged for the choices you make?

Thanks

Sandie
