RE: [IPk] Are we getting there?
I saw the report on the BBC 10 o'clock news last night. It was interesting and
I too wish Richard well. Unfortunately, the report was pretty bad. They came up
with the usual reasons for diabetes being an awful thing to live with - you have
to watch what you eat and have several nasty injections each day. Ha! If only it
was that simple! No mention of the difficulties in controlling BG, and the
countless things than can affect it!
There was a brief mention of the fact that he would have to take
immunosuppressants for the rest of his life, and Prof Amiel said that they are
quite toxic to the new cells and the rest of the body, so they are looking to
make a less toxic version.
