Re: [IPk] Work Experience in Hospital

Hi Jackie
I did my work experience in year 10 in a special needs school and wasn't
allowed to do much. I did enquire into hospital work, a lot of hospitals do
allow it but not in maternity or children wards.
Sasha might be good to ask if she could go on a diabetes ward. Work experience
is limited everywhere people go and most schools have them at the same time.
Get her to send a letter to the human resources department and see where she
could do her work experience.
I am kicking myself for not doing mine in a hospital. I might actually think
about organising a week maybe in the pharmacy so I know whether I do want to
work in that healthcare science department.
Good Luck Sasha!!!!
Laura

Subject: [IPk] Work Experience in Hospital

Sasha will be in year 10 next year.B She has already mentioned a career in
the
health services.B Does anyone know if student can get any sort of short term
work experience in hospitals?B I know that she wont be allowed to do much
but
they have volunteers in hospital to help do some work.B They have to start
looking into it in the next few months.

Sasha will only be 15 when she takes part in work experience.B She hates the
idea of doing something like standing around in a hairdressers sweeping up
hair
and not being allowed to do anything!B This is what Danni ended up doing!

Kind Regards

Jackie Jacombs, mum of Sasha aged 14, diagnosed with diabetes in 1999 at the
age
of 4 years.B Now using Paradigm 712 pump. Attends Gloucester Royal Hospital
where there are about 18 children on pumps, Sasha has an identicalB twin
sister
Rebecca, both twins have coeliac, I have two older girls, Nicki and Danni,
husband Terry
