 I find the pressed fruit strips quite good especially for walking. I tend to
eat at least 1 an hour on a long walk. I also quite like the 'sports beans'
which taste quite good and see not too sticky!

Yes I've used the gel packets on walking and cycling holidays before, 
they taste pretty foul generally but do the job. Decathlon sell about 
the only ones I can stomach! I was going to do the trek this year but 
then life got in the way, so maybe next year! I guess my needs wouldn't 
actually be that different to the walking and cycling trips I've done 
before, in that I've taken enough cereal bars and glucose etc to last a 
week, and the amount of activity wouldn't be vastly different. At least 
I can save space by not packing a towel since there's no washing facilities!
