And just as the "2 strips per person per day" directive led to a number of 
type 1s getting their strip prescriptions slashed, I'm sure there's room for 
misinterpretation of the point in giving GPs more responsibility for 
diabetes care. :(

Times like these it would be nice if the types of diabetes were actually 
called different names. No one ever confuses asthma with epilepsy (I hope!).

Type 1 13 years; MiniMed pumper 7.5 years; Animas pumper 2.5 years

I think the intention (at least around here) is for GP clinics to take care 
of all Type 2s and hospital clinics to take care of Type 1s, and maybe 
insulin-requiring Type 2s.
