RE: [IPk] PCT Pump Funding

I know it's quite late for ammunition, but I got this yesterday from my PCT
(Cambridge City):

Thank you for your letter of 14th May. Further to our recent discussions,
please advise your patient that:
* Following the publication of NICE guidance, the PCT is working with your
dept to ensure appropriate implementation of this quidance in the Cambridge
area. This requires us to establish a specialist team capable of providing
training and support to an adequate number of patients, agreee criteria for
NHS funding of pump therapy and resolve the practical issues around how
supplies of pumps and consumables are obtained and distributed. We aim to
complete this process as soon as possible.
* If Ms Crisp meets our locally-agreed criteria, the PCT will assume
responsibility for funding her ongoing supplies as soon as the appropriate
mechanism has been established.
We are fully aware of the importance to patients of good diabetes control,
and are keen to ensure that the option of pump therapy is available to those
who are likely to receive maximum benefit. If you require any further
information at this stage please do not hesitate to contact me.
Caroline Peet (PCT Prescribing Adviser)

Any tips on how to move this forwards a bit?
Best wishes,
Sarah Crisp

Insulin Pumpers is made possible by your tax deductible contributions.
Your donation of $10, $25, or more... just $1 or $2 per month is
needed so that Insulin Pumpers can continue to serve you and the rest
of the diabetes community. Please visit:

Your annual contribution will eliminate this header from your IP mail

As you are all aware, tomorrow is the day I meet with the All Party
Parliamentary Group for Diabetes. Below is a list of MP's who will be
attending. I would like any instances of PCT non compliance of NICE
Guidelines from within their constinuencies.

If you have experienced any problems, please let me know ASAP. I need as
much ammunition as I can get.
