Re: [IPk] Altitude

Thanks Tony,

In about a month's time I am flying into La Paz in
Bolivia. I am concerned because the guide books say
that altitude sickness is very common, and that you
have to take it very easy for the first day or so: not
eating very much, sitting still a lot etc.

I will then be spending two weeks in Bolivia, but I
think the main problem is the arrival at such a high
altitude.

I am just wondering if there is a higher risk of
sickness being diabetic? The friends I am meeting out
there are worried so I have prepared a factsheet for
them: how to test my blood sugar, how to bolus more
insulin, give glucose etc! I have never been in a
situation where I needed assistance in dealing with my
diabetes and I don't want to start now!

Cheers again,

Jenny.
