Hi Jon,

I was there, too.  I was quite close to giving up on the NHS ...  The
pump suppliers at first (five-six years ago) were very reluctant to
support wannabe pumpers, now they're very helpful.  They can give you
details of private clinics where you can make the transition to pumping.
While you may need a lot of support at first, particularly if you are
not already using mdi and carbohydrate assessment (if not, badger clinic
say 'I'll stop whinging about the pump for three months if you put me on
mdi and carbohydrate assessment TODAY').  But after the first few days,
the need for 24 hr support goes, and after the first few weeks, you
don't need a specialist pump team (you do need the technical support, of
course, but that comes with purchase of a pump, not from your hospital).
