Re: [IPk] Re: Chronic Kidney Disease
Hi
I telephoned the National Kidney Foundation and received very positive
information. Firstly she did say that 3 in 5 diabetics do get kidney
failure and this made my heart sink into my boots. She than went on to say
that Stage 3 can be considered quite normal for someone of my age,
especially if I have diabetes and other complications. I do not appear to
have had an eGFR test but this is scheduled for 6 months time and she said
if they were worried they would have asked for it earlier. She also said
that Stage 3 is always treated by the GP and was not surprised that the
nurse had been the one to tell me among my other Diabetes Report and Care
Plan details.
I told her the creatinine and she said there was an improvement over last
year and if I continue to keep my blood pressure low (it was the best I have
ever had 130/60 I think - 130 was definitely correct) and my cholesterol as
low as possible (it is 5 and just about OK for a non-diabetic) and glucose
under control which is happening a little better now I have my new pump,
there is a liklihood of further improvement.
I certainly feel more confident now than before.
June
