A second phial would be one solution, although it would add size, weight,
another line, another motor and another lead screw to the unit. And another
reservoir to keep an eye on and refill, of course.

In comparison, a swig of lucozade or five glucose tablets seems a much
simpler and more reliable option!

Surely you can completely replicate the bodies own pancreas and liver by
adding a second phial in the pump to administer dextrose solution thus no
longer requiring human intervention with meals, you would suffer a short
term increase in blood sugars at meal times due to the length of time
humalog is needed to be absorbed but maybe this could be overcome with the
pump being intravenous.
