Re: [IPk] Optium Xceed monitor
Hi Mary,
Thanks for letting me know this as I haven't yet had any problems.
I've rung Abbott, and they're sending me the new software. I wonder if
the new software includes new drivers for the Meter, in which case we
may be onto a possible cause for Medtronic's problems, as the US have
been using co-pilot for a while, haven't they?
I am intersted that your DSN thinks the medtronic software is useful
for others, but not for you? Do you know why this is? Is this the
nurse who thinks that you shouldn't test more than 4 times a day? I do
wonder where she gets her ideas from.
It is the idea of having all of the relevant information to be able to
show, for example, basal rates vs. BG readings, without having to
manually enter any information as I am not good at that.
Any way, I am looking forward to seeing the new graphs and reports.

I had Precision Link working initially then started to find that there
were
gaps in the uploads. Then it just stopped working totally. I
reinstalled and
got nothing so I phoned Abbott and they told me that it wouldn't work
with
Vista and they had no plans to develop any software that would. Kept
running
it on my laptop, and then one day I decided to investigate again. Phoned
Abbott and they sent me Co-Pilot which is much better - illustrates
trends
much more clearly, nice colours, you can input food, insulin doses, etc
(although I never have the time). That's where you will have the benefit
from Carelink - another reason why I don't use it is because my nurse
actually told me not to - she said she was going to buy everyone else
cables, but not me because she didn't think it would be good for me! I
can
send you sample reports if you are interested to see what they look
like.
