Re: [IPk] MiniMed 508 SofSet Change

Hey Guys, you're meant to prime before connecting up, until you see insulin
appear at the end of the tubing!! After connecting you need little or no
priming, certainly none if you get hypo every time, but never more than 1
unit! Remember, this is often more than an hour's worth of insulin, and
represents a 5% increase in your basal for the day (less the tiny bit needed
to fill the giving set of course)

Gwin, why not check your bg before changing the set? If low, you could
always take your time about changing over, if you're disconnected for half
an hour it won't be low any more (not ideal) or perhaps change your basal at
that time, maybe it's too high?

On that note, can I change the subject? I found just as I thought everything
was hunky dory, and my bg's were great all day, I discovered I was putting
on weight by the ton!! I have had to cut back on basals and actually start
to take notice of what I was eating for the first time. I'm finding it a bit
of a struggle to stop this process, and I'm at risk of floating away like a
big baloon. Did anyone else have this problem?
