Re: [IPk] To Ingrid and Helen...

I really hope you get your pump. If you read through the old e-mails I
was really despondant last year and now I really can't believe i have a
pump!! I have to fund it myself but I am going to try and get funding and
am waiting to hear from the AHA/pcg if it's going to pay for it.I wrote
to my consultant BEFORE I had my next appt So I could see him and not a
junior Doc who couldn't make any decisions I then got in touch with the
pump companies who seemed to be the most informed as to how far on the
hospitals were in different areas. i wrote to stephanie amiel @ King's
fully prepared to change clinics but suddenly last August I was told by
my consultant that I was 2nd on the list for pump therapyand I started my
trial in november as it took a while to tie up with the pump trainer .
John Davis at INPUT was brilliant and really supportive too. I only had a
trial with Minimed as the hospital were involved with them. Don't give up
just keep writing ! and tryingYou will get there in the end. Helen I told
you that too and you should know better working in the NHS than to listen
to just one consultant who probably only checks his Bg rarely! I once
worked with a diabeteic neurologist who used to drive to the hospital
barely able to see with severe retinopathy and then have to feed him
sandwiches and milk cos he was hypo!! (this was more than 20 tears ago!!)
Just keep writing and dont give up I can't believe i have my pump I've
just got to work to pay for it now!! Carmel
