[IPk] Dupuytrens contracture

I've had diabetic cheiroarthropathy for quite a few years now and find it very
painful. It's apparently caused by sugar coating the tendons. I was asked by the
rheumatologist if I took anti-inflamattories and when I said "no", he asked "why
not?" Problem is I have a bad stomach and cannot look at a drug without having a
reaction. What I do take is Turmeric 10,000 mg and it really helps with the pain
- in fact my hands feel almost normal although my grip is less good than it
should be and I can't straighten my fingers out properly. I stopped taking them
for several weeks recently and in no time at all my hands were so painful I was
almost in tears and nothing would relieve the pain. Within about a week of
starting the turmeric again they started to get better. I believe turmeric has
some anti-inflammatory properties and it certainly works for me. The
rheumatologist also told me that one of the few things that could give temporary
relief was soaking the hands in warm water - the physios do wax baths which are
lovely but the effect is only temporary . When I went to physio they had never
heard of the condition. I also use grip exercisers and the play do stuff to
manipulate and exercise/stretch my hands. All seems to help. Was also told to
keep my BGs as good as possible which is what they say for everything.
