I stopped drinking beer and lager about 15 years ago because it suddenly
starting having a similar effect (not as drastic, but I'd get a really
bad hangover from just a pint).
I also became very intolerant for a long time after I had my most recent
operation (after which I was ill for days, turned out I'm allergic to
morphine and codeine). I'd have a glass of wine and fall asleep! It took
me months to get back to being able to drink several glasses of wine
without a hangover the next day or falling asleep.
