RE: [IPk] pregnant pumping

How awful for you. My worst times as a diabetic were when
pregnant. It seems to me that when you are at your most
vulnerable, medical staff excel at treating you as though you
don't have two brain cells to rub together (although I am
sure not the ones on this list). I was not on a pump when I
had my children but I did elect to have my children at the
hospital of my choice (there were 3 closer) because I felt I
would be treated like any other expectant mother. I did have
insulin by sliding scale but I tested my own blood sugars and
advised them when the dose needed changing.

If persuasion does not work have you thought of trying
another hospital? I seem to find myself recommending this
often but it does work. You are not forced to have to use
the hospital closest to you. My diabetic specialist is in
London (40 miles away). The hospital I had my children at is
10 miles away. The local hospital is 1 mile away and there
are two others within 5 miles. I have a good GP who
recommends to me where he would prefer to be treated. If it
does not involve a long journey look around.

I am so sorry that you are not getting the support you need
when you need it most. It makes me so angry.

Best of luck
