A couple of things spring to mind David.

Firstly, although some people do, we were advised not to attach a cannula
until an hour after bath/shower/swimming.

Secondly, I don't know where you had the site sited, but I have spoken to at
least one gentleman who had issues with 'hairiness' and found it better to
either shave or use a clear (non hairy) area.

These might be wide off the mark, but seemed worth a mention..
