Re: [IPk] ACE inhibitors/beta-blockers

I am surprised that your diabetes team has rejected the use of ACE
inhibitors/beta-blockers. Your GP seems to know more about diabetes than your
diabetes team.

There have been a number of recent trials that quite clearly show a reduction
in the risk of heart disease and strokes when using ACE
inhibitors/beta-blockers. This is even true for people with diabetes who have
normal blood pressure, normal cholesterol and no diabetes-related
complications. Heart disease and strokes are actually the biggest risk factor
for diabetes, more so than retinopathy, nephropathy or neuropathy. In fact,
some diabetes specialists now recommend that all middle-aged people with
diabetes should be routinely prescribed low dose ACE

I am sure that there are others on this list, perhaps the medics, who would
back me up on this.
