I was told to do it a couple of times but I've been doing it around 4 times to
see if that helps.

I'll ask Animas USA why they say not to do it.

 When I was trained on my 2020 I was told you move the plunger around like
that
a few times to lubricate and stop it sticking. Just on a different note I was
using my predictive text when entering your name and it came up with
pinecones.
