[IPk] glucophage

John, you are correct. Glucophage is metformin which works by preventing the
liver manufacuring glucose. Apparently it also increases peripheral
utilisation of glucose
It's usually used in type 2s although often in combination with insulin.
Main indication has traditionally been for overweight type 2s although is
now recommneded in those who are non obese with inadequate control on other
