Actually things shouldn't be too bad flying into the US. The ADA have agreed
guidelines with the US airport authorities, and these include carrying a
vial of pump insulin with a pharmacists label on it, instead of a doctor's
letter which is too easily faked. See www.diabetes.org

Also, pumps are common in the US and will be seen often by airport security,
that's assuming they've been in the job more than a week of course!

It is appropriate to carry all supplies in hand luggage, as it can get lost

As a frequent flyer who has never had a serious problem yet, follow the
guidelines, tough it out, and enjoy your flight!
