[IPp] 504/glucagon Approved!!!!!!

Victory! The 504 plan was approved, including the administration of
glucagon in emergency situations!! The principal and Amelia's
teacher were wonderful to work with. The school nurse went along with
the plan but didn't like the idea of using a separate syringe to
administer the glucagon, said it would help Amelia more to have the
glucagon deep...into the muscle. What is your opinions on this? Amelia
has not had a low that resulted in being unconscious or having seizures.
A friend here in our area said she has used the smaller syringe with
glucagon with the same results as the large. I told her fine, use the
big needle until I have the opportunity to speak with her doctor. I
trained them this morning and the glucagon is at now at the school and
ready for use if needed! What a relief! The principal wants to hold a
504 meeting with the principal and teachers of the 5th grade center next
spring to! avoid us going through all of these problems again. I also
have 3 other mom's within our District that will have 504's in
place....safety in numbers! By the way, our school's are set up for K-2
in one school, then 3-4 in a different school, 5th grade is in one
school, middle school is 6-7, junior high is 8-9 and high school is
10,11,12. We are going to be good at these 504's by the time Amelia

Thanks for your support and advice!

Cheri McCurdy, Mom to Amelia, 9, D 1/00 P 12/00, and Amanda, 15!
