[IPp] Inset Tubing Issues
We've been using Inset infusion sets since the beginning of the year, and
just in the last month or so, I've noticed a disturbing trend of the tubing
breaking right where it connects to the insulin cartridge. Only once has it
become separated enough to cause insulin leakage, otherwise, it's been only
partially separated. There seems to be an inner tubing, and an outer
covering, and it's usually just this outer part that breaks. The tubing
failures only occur close to when site changes are due anyway, so I suspect
this might simply be a wear-and-tear issue. I'm still concerned about it,
and especially by the fact that I've never seen it occur until recently. We
switched from Cleo sets because of tubing blockage issues, and until now
I've been perfectly happy with the Insets.
I haven't contacted Animas yet (we get the sets from them, but we use the
Cozmo pump), because I'm not sure if it's simply that we need to change the
sets more often (right now we do it every second or third day), or if we may
be getting problematic sets. My daughter is a typical 7 year old, and is
pretty active at school. She's not a dare-devil and she doesn't go swinging
her pump around by the tubing or anything!
Has anyone else had this happen?
Thanks,
Lori
