Re: [IPp] School Frustrations - 504's
Good for them! I think all schools should have full time nurses........but they
didn't ask me :-(

I agree that the school doesn't get any extra $$ for a 504. But, in NYC, the
school will be entitled to a full time school nurse if there's a child with
diabetes in that school, or any other 504 kid that requires nursing skills..

The schools do not get extra money for 504 kids, just Spec Ed kids, which is
why, IMO, so many fight the 504 or try to push into Spec Ed. The money they
already receive is to cover 504 kids..........did you know schools are
to seek out kids that are covered under 504? what a joke.........I like to
that most fight it due to ignorance but when presented with the law only the
stupid ones continue to fight..........

Can someone explain how this works? As soon as a 504 is created the
school automatically gets $x amount of extra funding for a child? Are there
any links available for how this works? We live in Washington State. I would
like to have those available for our meeting next week.
