Re: [IPp] Doubling insulin on hormonal teens

Doubling the insulin needs generally just means the TDD
has gone up (it doesn't always double but often does.)
It is generally the basals and/or correction boluses
that increase but for some, even the meal boluses must
be increased (this hasn't been the case with us, just
the basals and corrections). Does this help? :)

Take care, Kerri, mom of Shannon-13 (dx 11/96, pumping
HTron 11/99, pumping Cozmo 8/03) and her 7 siblings :)

Its been said that during times of hormones or growth
spurts in teens that their daily insulin can increase
up to a point of actually doubling it.

My mind was viewing this as doubling the basils.
Then I got to wondering today if that also meant
doubling the bolus amount for carbs and doubling the
correction boluses? Or is it just the basils that are
doubling?
