Re: [IPp] 504 plan for my 14 year old daughter

Type 1 diabetes is explicitly included in the 504 language. If your child is in
a public school that receives federal funds, she is entitled to a 504 plan. Just
what goes into the plan is a lot more hazy and subject to negotiation with the
school.

The ADA and CWD websites have quite a bit of info on this, as well as links to
other resources. The ADA can be helpful on this, but it's best to go to national
resources at ADA rather than the state level.

As Bev said, OCR is another avenue of recourse. Sometimes having your
endocrinologist or CDE call the school administrator to remind her of her
responsibilities is enough to intimidate the school into cooperating.

Good luck, hang in there and let us know how it is going.
