According to a web page at the Allstate Insurance website, car
crashes are the leading cause of teen death, killing over 62,000
children in the ten year period from 1993 - 2003! These statistics
have held true ever since the record keeping began in 1975, with over
5000 teen deaths each year. In 2002, 38 % of all teen deaths were
attributed to automobile crashes. Homicidal deaths were at 13 % and
suicide was at 11 %.
The number of teens in the US is roughly 31.5 million (ages 10 - 19),
maybe half of those are drivers at most.
do the numbers for teens.....
teen risk of death from a pump 1 in 38,000 annually
teen risk of death from a car 1 in 3,150 annually
