Get the doctors to run tests on his kidneys and also maybe they will allow
him to do a trial with the continuos monitoring system that will check if he
is running lows and rebounding.They wear it for 3 days  and they still keep
their own tests and check ups and in 3 days compare to each other with the
doctors.
Meanwhile as hard as it might be, he could wear pull ups for bedtime and no
one would have to know. They run in all sizes and are soft and not noisy. So
first check with the doctor and demand he run tests. Maybe he has a problem.

There are drugs that he could start but where he started wetting after not
for so many years, this sounds more like he needs a look closer at other
things first.
