[IPp] combo bolus for pizza

Forgive me for not remembering who mentioned it, but someone recently
mentioned something about Pizza Hut and using the combo bolus feature on the
Cozmo pump. My daughter is 12 and has been pumping with the Cozmo pump since
February 2005. What we've found that works perfectly for her is to use the
combo bolus with a 50/50 ratio for a two hour period. We also always request
a thin crust cheese pizza whenever we go there for the lunch buffet. She
usually has about 4 medium sized slices (we count them 20 carbs each) and 1
breadstick. She ends up bolusing for 80 - 90 carbs depending on whether she
eats the breadstick or not. The 50/50 over two hours has always worked really
well for her.

What I really need to do is start trying the combo bolus for breakfast. We're
having a terrible time with her being high 2 hours after breakfast. (which
right now during the summer is right before lunch also.) Of course, she only
eats poptarts and/or cereal for breakfast. Sometimes a poptart and cereal
depending on how hungry she is! She's been a bottomless pit lately since
we've been more active during the summer and she's going through puberty.
She's at diabetes camp this week, and I am hoping that she's learned a lot of
wonderful things. The pump has been absolutely AWESOME for our family!!!

She never uses the combo bolus with ice cream, though. I buy those Great
Value brand ice cream cups at Wal-mart. That way she feels like she can have
ice cream anytime, but I know that she's not having too awfully much and she
can count the carbs easily. My kids seem satisfied with those little cups and
my husband and I don't feel too awfully guilty when we partake either! ha!
