Thanks for the tips everyone.  Brian has been carrying the same  supplies as 
your kids in a small black Kipling bag.  But he is starting  high school, and 
does not want to carry the bag anymore.  Thank goodness  that cargo pants and 
shorts are part of his school uniform.
Has anyone seen the "Sidekick"?  It is a glucose meter basically the  size of 
a tube of strips with the strips inside and the meter on the cap.   They sell 
it online and in drug stores.  It seems to be as accurate as any  of the 
bigger meters.
For a short outing Brian will take the Sidekick, a poker with some lancets,  
4 glucose tablets and an ID card with phone numbers in a little bag we  bought 
from PumpWearInc.com that clips on to his belt loop.  His pump and  cell 
phone are in his pockets.  But then he does not have his Glucagon or  any pump 
supplies, which is what we fight about.
