Re: [IPp] Hello everyone

My 12 year old daughter has been on the minimed 512 for 7 weeks now. I have
not used the bolus wizard yet [still go for that training on the 23rd of
this month]. We are doing well with this pump. We use the sil-serter which
seems to scare everyone because of the size of the needle but you really
don't feel it. I tried it and so did some friends of mine while we were
training for the pump. I stuck anyone that would let me with a syringe and
then the sil to see the difference and both were the same. The pump has
worked great. We never used any other pump to compare with and as of yet see
no reason why we would ever switch to anything else. It's easy to use and
has nice features. The battery does not last that long 3 weeks and they
suggest that you use ever ready but Wal-Mart has them cheap and we stock up
and clip coupons. Wal-mart also has the battery for the meter for a couple
bucks. I though at first the pump company was working with the battery co.
to "sell" the ever ready brand but after further inquiry seems they actually
tested different batteries and the ever ready is the best for the money and
pump. I have no complaints about the 512 it works great for us. We have
made adjustments almost every week on the basals trying to figure what is
best a few hi's and a few low's but I'm pleased with the progress we are
making and I am sure that once we get more familiar with the wizard and it's
features we will be in the best control since the whole thing
started..4/19/02 Good Luck to you.
