[IPn] news from AADE meeting in Las Vegas

Unfortunately nothing. I know that Deltec lost a patent lawsuit to
MMM over pump technology. That's part of the reason they left the
market. Don't expect to see another company replicate that technology
and have to face a similar lawsuit.
There are several companies I know of with that are close to
market ready, all are in various states of the FDA approval cycle.
Insulet:
New POD, in the approval cycle, look for something maybe Q1 2012?
Integration with the Dexcom device - no prediction. Engineering work
moving along but FDA approval timeline unknown.
Tandem
In the FDA approval cycle, look for something Q1 2012
Cell Novo
FDA wants patient studies, this could take a while.
Animas + Dexcom
No FDA timeline
Roche Solo (was Medingo)
Manfacturing set up with some changes to the product that require
resubmission to FDA, trials underway, timeline unknown but guessing a
year? maybe a bit less if things go smoothly.
Spring (new guys on the block).
Very small pump awaiting submission to FDA, timeline unknown.
Closed loop pump project, currently stalled at FDA. There is some
heat being applied to the FDA by some members of congress. Just in
the last few days diabetes advocates have had VOCAL meetings with
congressional reps. LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD if you would like to
influnce the current direction at the FDA. Only congress can change
things at this point.
Best regards,
Michael
