[IPp] Re: Novolog and nighttime highs

Hi Karen,
Well, last night was Night 2 on Humalog. She was 174 at 10:40 - so I
let it go,
and at 2:30 - she was 178. (My husband's turn... so he let it go).
This morning she was 196. It was nice to see the consistency, though
they were a little high.
My goal is to find a basal pattern that keeps her about the same all
night so we can sleep all night too!
and not worry about her getting low or really high. Too early to tell

need several more days, but
will keep you posted next week how it goes. You said you haven't slept
all night since March 12th...
Don't want to make you feel bad or discouraged - but we haven't slept
all night since Oct of 2002,
Hi Cathy
You know I took the plunge too. Friday night we switched to Humalog and a
sillouette and things have definately been so much better. Last night midnight:
124, 2am 128 and 4am 115, so I went to bed. She dropped to 59 at 6.30 but thats
because the basal was too high now she's on Humalog. Tonight is looking good
too. 95 before supper 101, 2 hours later and now 106.
We are still needing much higher basals from 8pm until 2am (0.5) instead of the
daytime 0.2 and we use a 1:18 carb ratio for dinner rather than 1:25 during the
rest of the day but if its working who cares? We got pasta right for the first
time too. Square waved for an hour it worked a treat.
First A1c since pumping yesterday and she's dropped from 7.2% to 6.7%..even
with those nightime highs.
I hope you are seeing the same improvements with Humalog. I am waiting for the
dilutent to come - it must be imported to the U.K and will take 6 weeks! Oh
well.
Karen (mum to Sarah age 7, d'xd @ 18months -pumping 6 weeks.
