RE: [IPp] Emily is pumping saline

<<Emily needed a bath tonight, and I attempted to disconnect her site.
Bad move. I was trying to pinch the sides of the connector, but Emily
was freaking out and pulled away from me. I didn't pull her site out,
but she felt something, and she started screaming and crying, saying it
hurt. I have looked closely at it and it seems to be firmly in place.
But she hasn't stopped crying since. She has been wailing "I hate the
pump! You don't love me! You don't take good care of me!" for the past
hour, and I'm about to throw up.>>

*hugs* I hate it when that happens! You may have partially pulled the
set out and then crimped it. You may want to go ahead and change it
tonight. I've done that to Brittany on accident when I'm pulling the
serter off the set and for whatever reason the tape didn't want to
stick. It's better to just take it off and start over. If the cannula
is totally bent in there (and there's no way to tell other than to take
it out) she would be getting no insulin at all. :-( We change
Brittany's set every other day, during her set change is when she takes
a bath/shower. We do use tegaderm for swimming, extra baths/showers,
whatever. Good luck! It does hurt sometimes when the cannula gets bent
like that though, she may actually be in some amount of pain. :-/
